KS graduated from the University of Peradeniya with a second class civil engineering degree in 1999. He then joined ABB Switchgear AB (Sweden)-a subsidiary of ABB Brown Boveri (Sweden) – the main contractor involved in upgrading the electricity sub stations around Colombo- as its Project Engineer. In 2003 he left ABB to form his own Companies-Datum Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. and Datum Developers (Pvt) Ltd -along with two of his University colleagues. They have successfully completed the following projects:

The Lauries Lane complex was done by Datum Developers (Pvt) Ltd., which was formed specifically to execute the project under the auspices of the Board of Investment by the same shareholders. KS was the Managing Director and only full time working director of both Datum Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. and Datum Developers (Pvt) Ltd. The Datum Group ceased operations following the departure of two of its Directors to the United Kingdom who obtained residency as Professional Engineers in the United Kingdom under the professional migration scheme.

KS is the Managing Director and the only full-time working director of all three companies formed by the STK Group. With KS hard work and commitment and along with his leadership has allowed the STK Group to successfully complete five projects with two ongoing projects.
